TOURISM: PRESENTED THE LOGO OF THE TOURIST DESTINATION “ENJOY BAROQUE”. IN MODICA INAUGURATED THE INFOPOINT DEDICATED TO WELCOMING TOURISTS.

Sea, events, food and wine, nature and above all Baroque that has become a World Heritage Site. These are the characteristics that inspired the logo that will henceforth identify the tourist destination “Enjoy Barocco – Sicilian experience” to promote the territories of the Municipalities of Ragusa, Modica, Scicli, Ispica and Santa Croce Camerina grouped by the GAL Terra Barocca. A single destination, a single logo, five themes matched with five colors that refer to the experiential bundles in the tourism development master plan. Blue for the sea, red forfood and wine, brown for culture and baroque, orange for events, and green for nature. This was the color choice that led to the creation of the logo whose shapes are inspired by some of the area’s identifying monuments, from the domes of some churches to the lighthouses along the coast.

The logo was presented yesterday by GAL president Ignazio Abbate, along with Ragusa deputy mayor Giovanna Licitra (a member of the board of directors), Santa Croce Camerina town councilor Patrizia Mandarà, GAL director Salvatore Occhipinti, and university professor Marco Platania, coordinator of the group that drafted the master plan.

“At last we are starting with a single tourist destination through a synergy that sees the five municipalities, enclosed in the LAG, all working and operating together, rowing towards a single direction to reach tourists with the aim of enticing them to come and get to know our reality – explains President Abbate – We focus on what our land offers us, our most important treasures namely our good food, our sea, our landscapes, our events and our extraordinary Baroque. Even the logo focuses on these concepts, with shapes, figures and colors that represent our territory in a geometric and stylistic way, a harmony of elements that reveals unique details and our mission: Enjoy Baroque, because that’s just the way it is, those who come to visit us as tourists leave happier.”

The Enjoy Barocco destination was created as a result of the master plan carried out by the Terra Barocca LAG, which enabled a detailed analysis of the entire sector, assessing strengths and weaknesses, verifying the research carried out by tourists and enhancing the attractions.

A partnership of more than 70 entities, born from hotels, vacation homes, agritourisms, farms, tour operators, foundations, and religious bodies, will manage the destination along the lines of tourism development indicated by the master plan.

Five product-market combinations to be proposed to tourists: “At the discovery of the Baroque,” marked by itineraries related to the Baroque and food; “Folk and cult“, which promotes religious and folk traditions expressed through events; “Food and fields,” related to rural tourism; “Sea and sun,” i.e., traditional bathing; “Full glasses,” i.e., the wine and food tourism. Work is being done on several fronts, including that concerning tourist signs that will soon be standardized across municipalities. And also on the network will be the tourist infopoints, and more precisely the tourist welcome centers, which the five municipalities are launching thanks to the 7.5 call for proposals intended for them with activities related to communication and the creation of the tourist portal through a call directly directed by the LAG.
In Modica yesterday the first Enjoy Barocco tourist infopoint was inaugurated, located in the Falcone-Borsellino square, right at the entrance to the city. As explained by President Abbate, it will soon be named, with an upcoming ceremony, after journalist Giorgio Buscema, for decades a correspondent for the daily newspaper La Sicilia but also a promoter of cultural events and initiatives and vice president of the Pro Loco of Modica. The infopoint has a luggage storage area inside and restrooms in the back for tourists to use. With its well-maintained outdoor area, it is a calling card for the city and the new tourist destination. The infopoint of the City of Ragusa at the Donnafugata Castle will also be inaugurated in the coming days, while in Punta Secca, in the territory of Santa Croce Camerina, the current infopoint already active will be identified with the Enjoy Barocco logo. Scicli and Ispica projects are also in the home stretch.
